I disagree, it wasn't his past life but the second life he wasted, he was acting like a big baby not going to lie. Ariadne served him in the last life and also started to help him in the current, she literally, literally did not have to do anything to assist him, and yet he's still complaining about trivial stuff, he literally does not know her personality, let alone know what takes to win her heart.
