Yeah it’s pretty stupid but not really all that out of character. Sam has always been a pretty dense guy and both the king and his brother lust after him. He’s established to be completely straight so I think he doesn’t really see anything wrong with the situation since they were probably really close as kids. And also, he didn’t know Geon was watching. At this point, Sam doesn’t really give a shit anymore and the more Geon is turned off by him, the better for him. Whether he kills him then himself and all that, Sam does not care.

Not only is he doing that but he's acted different since forever ago. He's always kept CG at arms length. He ran after the first prince with arms wide open and even leapt on him. He sits on his lap and yada yada... Yet he can't do that with CG. Why? That's what's "unfair" for CG... He literally isn't asking for much and has never asked for much... I'm not saying sexually he should serve him or act easy. I'm literally saying that he should be playing his cards right right now by even just faking friendliness. Just been a little bit more patient, and NOT met the prince alone and in secret, he could have controlled the situation more and found his daughter.
It's shitty that he is being confined and kept at the palace by force.

I know he's childhood friends with the first prince, he's so deprived from real conversation etc etc, however I think it would have been good if he just knew not to provoke or poke the bear by breaking his rule. I think he could have been a little more patient so he could find his kid.

I'm saying this because CG is beyond insane. He's literally so unstable and literally can't think rationally. Samyeong is traumatized by being confined but is the more stable. To be fair, the first prince never assaulted him. Also, I think Sam thinks of the first prince as an equal while Geon feels like a child to placate or a dog to train. Also, it seems like Sam doesn’t want to go along with him. Like it’s very very easy to just go with it, lie or try to placate the king while he can but he continues to refuse to do it. Probably because his pride is all he has now and he refuses to let it go. I honestly think he’d just prefer if Geon would go ahead and kill him. Faking it til he makes it makes a lot of sense for use but then again, we are not in the position of being so utterly stripped of our dignity and reputation. Sam is a good and dignified person and just because someone is intelligent doesn’t make them a clever manipulator. Also, I don’t think Sam wants Geon to find his kid for him. He would be way too afraid of what Geon would do. I mean even if they find her now, everything is good for how long? What if Geon, being obviously unstable, becomes jealous and decides to kill her anyways? He wants to find his kid but in a way that Geon won’t find out.

Thanks because this entire discussion is, once again, women that doesn’t condone abusive, rape when it comes to the top because they imagine themselves as the uke and how they would have been soooo better than the MC, when whole time it’s a story that depict abusive, coercition, rape and violence at a deep level. Idk who you're referring to because I highly doubt anyone under this discussion even imagines themselves as such. Just like anybody sees someone's life and thinks they could make better decisions, this is a fictional book. Judging the characters in a fictional story is not a bad thing. Just as a reader, we are able to see a bigger picture and base decisions that the reader theorize would be better for that individual.

I agree, i don't think placating to his wishes isn't good either, but based on the circumstances he is in, I personally think that doing so until he could escape, would be the better choice to successfully leave or at least have his daughter. The simplest thing was to not meet with the prince ALONE, knowing that CG is bat shit insane and super possessive.

But as for the other things, I can see that if he doesn't want CG to find the daughter due to fear. SM is already kind of greedy and prideful in his own way, so idk if I necessarily see him faking it as stripping himself from that when in the end he could achieve what he needs and wants. But then again, this is my personal opinion.

He already has all the cards in his hand at his advantage, he just needs to know how to play them right imo.

I totally get what you mean. My point is basically I understand Samyeong’s POV but not necessarily that I agree with him or say he’s making the right choices. Like I said, the smart thing to do would be to go along with it and placate him to keep himself safe and even rule the kingdom by proxy if he wants but I just want to point out that we, as an audience, assume that this is what Samyeong wants to achieve since it is what we want to achieve if we were in his situation. But I think it has been pretty obvious from the start that Samyeong has different morals and priorities from us. It seems his pride and his sense of morality are things he aren’t willing to compromise even if it kills him. And in his POV, going along with the king or attempting to manipulate him compromises that. Prioritizing what makes the king comfortable over his own desire to bond with his oldest friend is not something he’s willing to move on. He KNOWS Geon would hate it but does not care enough to adjust. So I guess he’s not really “stupid” as the original comment wanted to imply but more so stubborn and proud.
