For an author that tries (at least slightly more than others) to take all this abuse and rape seriously, that ending is such a whimper and disservice lol. Maybe his mind forgot but the body keeps the score and will never recover from the severe trauma if he can't even remember it. Feels like having my cake and eating it too for asking for that but there's gotta be some story out there that sticks the landing with a situation like this
Yeah, it's such a waste to leave at that. With history like that, there's never happily ever after. Small unanswered problems, also losing memory also makes some place for different reactions and outcomes.
