Have you tried doing that on pc? I always upload my pfps on pc cuz it's kinda difficult so I don't get that problem
if you can't then when you go to your settings you'll see blue boxes around your avatar, one of the box is bigger than the other try grabbing that one and move it around so that your avatar gets fully uncovered by the shadow it's kinda difficult so I suggest you do it on your pc, hope that helps :)
