I wrote this so if you have questions about it, ask me.
Sorry if this is repetitive to ask... but I got tired of reading all different infos from sources I don't know. Do I or do I NOT add stuff to my "read list"
I already added a few whent the issue was new and i knew better than to wait. I rate almost nothing. If there is no scope for the lists to come back, I think I'll just start adding the ones I remember, but I need some sort of direction because everyone is saying something or the other...
Sorry very late response
Some people are saying it's fine some are saying it's not.
I am on the side of saying it's not and that you should save your lists off-site.
I have seen how unstable the site has been the past few days. Separate cases I've seen:
- (DATE FORGOTTEN) Someone added stuff to their lists and when they checked 2 days later it was gone
- (FEB 24) Another user experienced stuff disappearing after saving stuff. Specifically added TITLE after the glitch happened, and it was deleted later. They didn't realise until later
- (FEB 24) UNSURE but user deleted stuff off their list, and it was re-recovered because the entry was in the system. I assumed they deleted it again and it was re-added.
- (Same week) Albums glitched and anything that was added during a certain time didn't properly save. 2 people at the same time.
(And we thought albums were safe to add to because they were unaffected by the crash. But no, I guess the change wasn't reflected on the servers properly and they weren't added. This seems to be the same thing happening to lists sometimes. It's what I think happened for the 2nd case. And because people don't notice their stuff isn't being added it just becomes a bigger headache for them.)
I remember there being more cases that I didn't save.
Other stuff to note:
- Comments not uploading properly - having to post 3x sometimes because the servers aren't taking the information
- Constant log outs etc
Because the site becomes more unstable than usual at confusing times, we can't predict when it's safe. A main reason I've personally been advising against it is because the site is unstable and unpredictable. It's better to be safe than sorry.
Xander is advising against it for technical reasons, but I can't speak on that.
I used to use bakaupdates manga back in the day
Iirc it stays pretty up to date because when some scanlation groups would update their series, they would update it there.
myanimelist also has a separate manga list that I also used to use but I havent used it since 2021 so I don't know if its still good

hello! i know when the site went down, so did my reading/read/want to list went down! is there any way they will return, i really miss them :C
