Lol. You dont have to like my opinion. It doesn't have to be braids. I cant draw. And i seen the one manger I think for the American mily girl or something. That could have been his haircut. Like that is what I am talking about.
Yall get so mad when people have an opinion. I can comment if I want that is why there is a comment section.
And the internet exist. I look up Korean street wear, k-art drawings for references ALL THE TIME.
They can could look up black people braid drawings. The internet is free. I dont understand why do you use THEY'RE NOT BLACK as an EXCUSE.
Thats like telling me. Black people who make mangas cant draw proper characters who are of a different race. When the internet is free. Drawings on YouTube are free.
He is a side character but that one character showed me how much the adaption really just LOW RATED.
I don’t understand your rage, I was actually happy to see someone portray a black character that didn’t either have his hair shaved or slicked back into a bun.
I thought it was really cool, I mean sure, it wasn’t the best execution, I do acknowledge it was that pretty to look at but at least the artist tried and didn’t simply stick to the easy option.
You may disagree with me and that’s okay, but I think giving up on reading this amazing story because of an npc’s bad hair is a bit of a shame…
Im not mad. I am disappointed. I only got heated because they used the excuse. THEY'RE NOT BLACK.
Its realy the lack of understanding. That is the problem.
Most webtoons and mangas that want to involve real representation of humans and instead of actually doing research for a kind of race or human they do, from base on the top of their head.
But when non Asian people do it. Try make an Asian character, it is portrayed as too stereotypic. The webtoons app, and non Asian people are doing their own little mangas or webtoons or whatever you want to call them and then they were like oh this is not what Asian people look like. you're being weird. But they aren’t Asian, but we are being told to do our research.
I am speaking from experience. I literally know a creator that was doing a fanfic webtoon. She drew what she thought would be an average chinese man a side character by the way and she god dog to the point she had to delete her webtoon. He was literally the average farmer boy skin type with squinted eyes. And moles.
Just because of that one incident she doesn't draw anymore and stay with writing novel fanfic on Tumblr. She wasn't black she's White. And people kept telling her that she was being rude and could have done better.
I agree with doing better or having someone there to at least have a second say if you are of that race, but she literally just drew a man from a c-pop band that was indie. So I dont see what was wrong it was the exact person. But people have a say on if they like it or not.
a lot of non black people getting mad at this comment is weird. If a black person is disappointed on how they are portrayed or how the hair of a black character looks they have the right to feel that way! this is the problem now whenever black people express opinions y’all are quick to try to silence them or criticize them when y’all wouldn’t even try to understand where they are coming from. I never hear artist say “oh i’m not white so i can’t draw white people” or “i’m not asian so i can’t draw asian people” but always with black people and their hairstyles when it’s truly not that hard like there are easy hairstyles to choose from like afros, locks, twist ,ponytails, or could’ve gave him a buzz cut since cornrows are trickier to draw. there’s quite literally no excuse, I do applaud artist for not making the black character look like a caricature but thats the bare minimum.
The logic being used here is, they don’t agree with me therefore, they can’t be on the same side. Everyone in my group is on my side. Everyone. No exceptions.
I get the same shit comments whenever I make a post about how rape victims still need to be held responsible for any wrongdoing they have done. People immediately start saying I’m pro-rape. No you obnoxious jerks, I’m from a family that suffered abuse, including sexual child abuse, but guess what? Our child molesting dad wasn’t nearly as bad as our mom. But everyone pardoned her for her abuse. I wanted to die, but she can’t be blamed for sh*t because “she’s a victim”. Victim status isn’t an immunity status… oh wait- cue society with the pro victim infallibility clause.
Hey, I’m only jumping in because I’m concerned. I don’t want to partake in this argument at all. I just thought I should speak to you now, instead of worrying over a complete stranger the whole night without saying a word. Both your parents are awful. I don’t know who in your immediate friend group or family are comparing the different types of abuse and being lenient of one over the other, but it’s not okay. I don’t know if you want to talk about it and I hope that you’re doing okay. You can always message me if you want to, no pressure. The reason why strangers on the internet, though, might have a reaction like that to you saying that rape victims need to be held accountable for what they’ve done wrong in life too… is that they do not have context to why you’re saying that and your situation isn’t reflecting what they’re talking about in that moment. Rape is a serious and incredibly difficult thing to talk about, as is all abuse. It’s also something that is often dismissed and many rapists do not get held accountable or put in prison. When someone is a rape victim discussing this tragedy that happened in it and you say something like this, it would feel invalidating to that person. It can also make people question if that person deserved to be abused in such a way. Your family situation gives you a unique outlook and your pain deserves to be heard and listened to as well. I wanted to let you know that BOTH your parents deserve jail time. If you’re comparing the crimes of your parents and you’ve decided you’re slightly favoring one over the other… I want you to know that’s not because the other one you decided you like better is actually a better person, they are not. That just because you decided that the way they abuse you is more tolerable and I genuinely hope you realize that both people are evil. Child molesting is evil and the fact you yourself, a victim of this, are waving it aside… it worries me. He’s not okay just because you are strong and you tolerated it. You are just better than he ever was or will be and you YOURSELF are strong. Your mom, evil. Your dad, evil. You = Strong. Idk your situation so I’m gonna back off now but I’ll be praying for you.
I also think they both deserve jail time, but that’s beside the point. What I’m getting at is that people think it’s impossible for someone who is part of their group to disagree with them. It’s impossible for someone on their same side to have a different opinion from them. If their opinion differs they’re clearly on the opposite side.
Like, why is it wrong that the African guy’s hair is that way? The person who complained should apologize to all of the Africans in the world to have that hairstyle. Believe it or not, being African does not require one to dress according to a stereotype. Being of a member of a group does not require one to dress as a representative of that group. It’s OK to be an individual. In fact it’s better to be an individual.
I’m anything but pro rape. But society believes that rape victims must never face blame. Nothing they do can be criticized. My situation is unique. But I’m not referring to my situation specifically. You will see people complain that a rape victim having dressed like a prostitute is unwise, and then see that person get slammed by the Internet for having pointed out that the behavior should not be pursued by other members of female society. People will claim that the one who pointed out the negative behavior is defending the rapist.
I’m not defending rape. I’ve been there. I can’t possibly defend such evil. As the daughter of a child predator, I will never defend rape. But guess what? I’m siding against dressing like a whore. It’s f*cking stupid to dress like a slut and go out in public. It’s ridiculous to put oneself into potential peril just because people shouldn’t be afraid of being raped over an outfit.
You know what else shouldn’t happen? Crimes. Are gonna get rid of jails? No. In reality, just because something shouldn’t happen doesn’t mean it won’t.
The mentality society holds towards victim shaming is bad. If someone got struck by lightning, while sword dancing on top of the Empire State building, in full Chainmaile, in the middle of a thunderstorm, people would say the behavior was stupid and it was (at least partially) their own fault. Do people deserve to be struck by lightning? No. No one deserves to die that way just for dancing. But deserving it has nothing to do with whether or not, it will happen.
If someone dares to say something as simple as you shouldn’t dress like you’re looking to sell yourself. That’s dangerous to do. Society will have a fit. Because we’d rather teach our daughters that they have a right to dress however they want, and therefore should endanger themselves, because screw safety. Have you been raped? Do you know how horrible it is? Do you understand the misery and shame? But do you know how much society is determined to teach young girls that they should dress however the f*ck they want just because those girls don’t deserve the consequences? Not deserving it doesn’t create immunity. Refusing to acknowledge a bad behavior as bad creates more victims. I want society to stop supporting a behavior that creates more victims. And to stop attacking
I don’t think people aren’t acknowledging that abuse is bad. I think saying that in a space where people are strictly speaking on the effects of rape is where people get angry. Rape is dismissed, waved aside, and often does not ever get punished. So again, when people who are talking about rape are not talking about abuse that isn’t because they are putting one in a competition with the other… it’s because rape also needs to be talked about. I’m also not talking to you about society as a while, I’m talking to you because I’m worried for you and the language you used in your previous post about your parents. I’m glad you think they both deserve prison time and I’m glad that you are aware that they both are awful. Victim shaming is bad because you cannot project yourself into others lives and you don’t know their situation and rape is serious. Hearing someone out who has potentially been raped is necessary because our system does not listen and people walk free because of it. Society does not have a perfect answer but being skeptical of all rape victims and saying they all need to be held accountable… from what? The assumption here is that they’re all abusing people as well or they themselves aren’t actually victims. What you are doing here is superimposing the image of your mother on people who have nothing to do with her. Girls should have freedom of expression and people should not rape. People rape regardless of dress, regardless of body type, facial features, or clothes. People rape because they are evil. Claiming anyone needs to be held accountable for being raped because of what they’re wearing is giving too much leniency to those who rape and not enough leniency to someone who is just being themselves and living their life. Anyway I hope that helped, I don’t really want to discuss the actual topic that started your rant, as I said before I didn’t come to be a part of that argument but I’ll answer just to see if I can help in that way too. The reason why the op was mad about the hair isn’t because pf a stereotype or an idea of what black hair should be. They were frustrated because black people hardly get representation in media in Korea or Japan and finally there is black representation but the hair is lackluster and disappointing. People react differently to circumstances like that and they have a right to their anger.
You’re weird you know? My initial comment was two lines and a single paragraph. It wasn’t a rant. You posted a rant response about the concern you supposedly have for me, twisted together with weird misunderstandings.
No one’s talking about ALL rape victims, or even rape victims as the topic. I’m talking about how people assume that when a person makes an opposing viewpoint, that they can’t possibly be a member of the same group.
It’s like how the OP seems to believe that if a person doesn’t support the their stance that the NPCs hairstyle wasn’t African enough, then clearly they’re white.
Or like how people think that if someone makes a comment that women shouldn’t dress like whores, if they want to reduce their odds of getting raped, that they cannot be a rape victim themselves.
That was the topic of my initial reply. It was a brief comment meant as an example. How are you twisting that into me blaming rape victims as… what, evil? What weird fantasy are you creating in your projections? I’m not blaming rape victims. And I only replied to your very lengthy comment because you expressed that you were going to stay up all night worrying about me. So to keep you from having a night where you couldn’t sleep due to concern for a total stranger, who never expressed that they are in current danger, or that the situation isn’t past tense, (I’m 38) I simply explained to you what my comment meant. Yet you managed to turn that explanation into an even stranger misunderstanding.
Why not stop while you’re… not as far behind as you could be.

I might just stop reading this. Because of that one black character and it is so bad. I am offended. I cant draw that good for hairstyles. But I feel like they could have done better. As a black person I cant just understand. There are so many othet styles they could have went with that isn't black represented and still add a black character. Like if he is going to Hollywood then he might meet more black people. Maybe its me. But it could have been better.
Oh and people who are telling me to.delete my other comment I wont. Everyone have opinions, not everyone have to agree. Im an asshole I know this.
