dawg she was literally just described to be the CURRENT most powerful woman in the other kingdom, she fainted when she was being dragged away, but shes not dead. and in the earlier chapter, when the emperor was asking what the duke did to enrage the other duke so much, he said he had demanded he give his sister back. shes alive.

brother WHEN was that implied. im not trying to be rude but theres been multiple times now where its said she was just sold off. the scene with her FAINTING could not have been her DYING because its impossible for her to have already had arelyn at that point- valere was still a little kid, and she's not that much older than him. i havent seen any spoilers related to her yet but my own theory is that valere thought she was dead, but then she got pregnant with arelyn out of wedlock with a man she actually loved and then entrusted her baby to her brother. valere now knows shes alive, considering he told the duke roche. to give her back. do you think he meant her corpse??? literally, in this chapter, mehen says "shione is CURRENTLY the most powerful figure in paital...she IS the grand duchess, wife of duke roche."
It was said literally several times that she’s dead. Even in the chapter she fainted Valere said to his father “you killed the both (mom and his sister)”
I interpreted this in more of a metaphorical sense. Like “you killed her HAPPINESS” or “you killed off her life” (as in took away her happy future) rather than her LITERALLY being killed.
I had thought that meant he THOUGHT she had died in that moment, which i said in my theory, since she collapsed to the floor in front of him (either from stress, maybe having a similar but not as severe condition as arelyn, or she was drugged), and later found out she was still alive. killing her happiness works too, though. and besides that ONE single time in the latest chapter, no, it is not said "several times" that shes dead. its said that she's GONE. and later, further elaborated that she is held CAPTIVE. not dead

She's dead dead. Even in the novel she's dead. Idk y'all overcomplicate things when the duke literally told his father he killed his mother and sister with his own hands. He even killed the father on his mom's death anniversary. Like how can you interpret that as his dad "killing" their happiness. It's very straight forward from the get go that she's dead. There's no need to read in between the lines. He wouldn't be doing too much to find a cure and would have rather find his freaking sister??? Y'all also could have realized that the sister would never leave mc in the north especially with how she detests it??? Like reading comprehension is fucked.
