Don't know for sure, but my working theory is that everyone's horny and it's easy to mindlessly stuff in smut in those tropes. Which I wouldn't mind if the stories would be good, but why is it so hard to find one with consensual relationship and sex as the bare minimum
Cause it's basically a plot that's written itself. The world building is basically already done for new writers (unless they add twists... which... usually just involve an OP alpha or very hypersexual one)
I like ABO, Guideverse, and hunterverse only if it's actually written with thought and not just "haha pheromones/superpowers time to abuse an omega/guide or vice versa"
I feel like a lot of them are pretty smutty. We know porn sells in this economy.
