I can’t, for the life of me, remember which manhwa / novel it was, but I read an action manhwa with a story that revolved around hunters and dungeons. It was revealed towards the end that “they” wanted to keep the dungeons open to keep extracting its raw materials from them, and if dungeons ever ceased to exist, it would be financially catastrophic for the guilds and hunters that stood to lose the most. So the most powerful colluded in killing people who aimed to permanently end the cycle of dungeons and monsters rampaging the world. The storyline made an impression on me because of how realistic the depiction of greed was.
For how emotionally edgy this story is, it feels childishly naive to come to the conclusion that monsters are the problem

Clearly the problem is political and the enslavement of guides and espers won't stop just because monsters are gone, they'd just be repurposed for human wars.
If they really want to save mutants what they need is tell the population the truth about them and let them know they risk death if they turn out to be mutants, that way public opinion would be on their side and organisations to protect mutant could emerge.
This story is so dumb.
