Valid point, but I've always wondered if the physical brain affects the mind. If you've got a kid's hormones and brain chemistry, maybe it's harder to keep that adult composure? Plus, after a lifetime of adult stress, maybe he’s just enjoying having zero responsibilities for once, lol.
I too wonder about that, but I think that's overanalyzing it. It suggests that it is up to us readers to interpret what is going on in the mind of the mc. That just proves that the story telling is somewhat shallow.
I think he acts like an adult. His biggest goals are to continue the plot along so he can go home and get money. LOL He's been actively doing both.
He's funny, he's dumb but not stupid, he's not going to force things (that goes against his morality) to make things happen.
And he's definitely not the stupidest MC....I came across the real idiot MC who puts himself in stupid situations TO GET RAPED because he's THAT stupid
im not sure what is supposed to be an adult way of acting even as an adult myself. what I can observe though is (1) he doesn't treat the others as people actually, right now, from the mc's pov, he sees them as characters from a story he read, (2) he is goal focused: to go back home for the lottery that he won so he would do everything for it. (3) he acts as if he is not part of the plot which is connected to point 1. he still treats everything as the story that he read. (4) why is he in denial? because of point 2, the lottery he won was a HUGE sum of money that he refuses to be absorbed to the story.
Everyone's loving these but here I am thinking that the mc is just full blown idiot. Imagine he is an adult but he doesn't act like one
