    Got it. Thanks! It did briefly mention that he needed allies, but my stupid brain never processed that allies = higher chances of succeeding. I’m so used to main characters being OP and carrying everything.

    Nor your stupid brain. Just too many "mc does everything side characters are there to be saved" stories. Hell even when the MC does train them they still end up being weak.

    Presumably this is because they are written as self insert characters and the authors assume the reader has no real friends and so no one to trust or rely on.
