Yeah, considering he's a former gangster/loanshark, I was expecting him to be a little more assertive. Although it's true he's already talked back to most people, so he's not being a complete pushover at least.
Well he's in a vulnerable position right now so he's most probably being cautious and not making too much of a scene. He needs to assess the situation first.
I’m surprised he willingly cooked and did the dishes, just cause they told him. I’d go with malicious compliance. Yeah I can make breakfast, but you never said it had to be edible. Either use no salt at all, or make it so salty you can’t eat. Or maybe leave all the vegetables raw, or add enough spice to make it a hazard. Dishes? Sure. But only wash the front, and ignore the backs and sides, so that they all remain dirty. Or just use water to rinse and no soap. Or break one dish for every one that’s washed well. Oops, my hand slipped. Must be because I’m still recovering from my near death drowning. I dunno. Do I have to clean? Guess every painting will be ”accidentally” ruined. Do I have to do the laundry too? Perfect, let’s make sure to leave bleach stains and shrink everything. Sorry I have no memories of doing laundry, so I didn’t know bleach wasn’t used that way. Oops
