Yeah that’s just sad if they don’t like it there’s literally NOTHING making them interact with you I tend to write long rants too because some stories deserve an actual opinion instead of a sentence that doesn’t match up with what we’ve seen of the characters and here I’m just saying it the ML is an actual ignorant fool who thinks they know best for Maximillian without ever actually listening and just forcing reconciliation through physical intimacy very forceful and we know that isn’t what Maxi needs after the abuse she’s already used to and expects from her husband he gives her small moments where she feels loved and listens to while a vast majority she feels a burden or abandoned working herself to death while he tells her it’s useless and she shouldn’t do anything so hard but imagine Maxi who’s only just been opened up to a whole new world realizing there are things she CAN do but he constantly belittles her struggle and tries to tell her he’s not doing it to belittle her he cares for her and I get it but truly he’s a fucking dunce only war in that head no logic in a married relationship AND LEAVING HER ALONE AFTER FINDING OUT SHE WAS PREGNANT AND MISCARRIED ONLY FOR HIM TO FORCE EVERYBODY TO HIDE IT FROM HER WHILE LEAVING HER HIMSELF UNDER THE GUISE OF HER “TREATMENT” bro could’ve been dead ass been mature enough instead of an infant when dealing with maxi during this time and stayed to have a long discussion about everything that’s happened as husband and wife but he left her to find out on her own through her pos father that she miscarried not mentioning the trauma she has of her mother who struggled heavily with pregnancies now believing her husband sent her back as a form of abandonment since she knows he made that face at that time because he knew what happened to her baby and now maxi believes she will become just like her mother a tool now worthless to be discarded. I understand exactly why these hoes are attacking me, and it's because they hate the fact that I'm brutally criticizing Riftan, because, in there eyes, the flaws I've listened don't exist and I'm just talking out of my ass. I understand disagreeing, but ffs, to outwardly state I'm "wrong" and calling me a bitch over it? I now have a good idea of the type of individuals I'm dealing with, lol. They don't care about good literature. They just care about the poorly written smut they could goon to, not to mention how often these dumbasses sexualize and glorify a literal abuser. They're usually the ones to toss around words or phrases like "nuance" and "media literacy," meanwhile missing actual nuances in the narrative, like how Riftan essentially conditioned and forced Maxi to adapt to his possessive style of "affection," never once reflecting on how his actions would affect her, regardless if whether he was aware of her history of abuse or not. Maxi, of course, interprets Riftan's obsessive possessiveness and sexual aggression as genuine "affection" due to her abusive and extremely sheltered upbringing. She wouldn't be able to tell the difference between love and possession because she doesn't even know what "love" is. To her, "love" is whatever makes her feel seen and "cherished," (i.e. through sex and love bombing) regardless if the way she receives that affection is healthy or not.
Not to get off topic, but this is what makes their relationship so toxic and honestly should've never happened at all. Neither of them see each other as people, just objects to use for when they need to feel validated. The worst part is that when the two begin to fully *see* each other, they don't end up liking what they see, and consequently are at constant odds with each other by the second book because of it, and by the end of the story, their "romance" feels incredibly forced—almost delicate even, as if any day their "affection" might wither off. The intent of their harmful dynamic is to witness two broken individuals grow together into a happy and healthy couple, yet that never ends up happening at all. They may "talk," but they never genuinely "communicate." They never sit down and express their insecurities to each other without involving either rough sex (which had typically occurred through Riftan’s coercion) or arguing. Maxi, as a standalone protagonist, is great, fantastic even. Watching her grow and interact with Ruth and the others was really nice to see since we got to see her in her element. But this has made me realize just how much her being with Riftan only brings out the worst in her.
I'll continue to criticize the story, no matter what these bitches say or do. I don't care. If they don't care for my "novels," then, by all means, look the other way. They weren't meant for you anyway.
