**TIMELINE SPOILER**
I think it’s better to explain the timeline, because for non-novel readers it can be confusing why Taekjoo stayed with Zhenya despite the abuse. Many people may just assume it’s because of Stockholm syndrome, but it’s not that simple.
Currently in Season 2, we’re at the island arc. If I remember correctly, the next chapter should be the last scene of the assault, which is the tattoo scene. After that, all the upcoming sex scenes are consensual, although still tied to Taekjoo’s survival. The island arc focuses mainly on Taekjoo’s hardships as he tries to bargain with Zhenya that if he wins, he can leave the island, but of course, that never happens. hahaha
During this time, nothing romantic is happening despite Zhenya’s occasional kindness. From an outside perspective, their dynamic looks strange, bec they kinda get along, but it’s not love. There are a few scenes showing that Zhenya is already forming an emotional attachment beyond his obsession with Taekjoo. Taekjoo, on the other hand, starts to get used to his situation and shows signs of adapting, which might look like early Stockholm syndrome symptoms. But Taekjoo has strong mental resilience. He rationalizes everything that happens, fully aware it’s only because he’s stuck with Zhenya. He never romanticizes their relationship on the island and is determined to escape and never return to Zhenya.
Eventually, Taekjoo escapes. However, he becomes a wanted criminal in both Korea and Russia. Within a month, Zhenya finds him again in Korea. Taekjoo is pressured into depending on Zhenya, but it’s still his rational choice to stay and juat use zhenya fpr his benefit which was actually the smartest move for him at that point to stay alive.
This is where their “situationship” begins. Taekjoo did not stay because he fell in love with Zhenya right away. Readers need to stop viewing this as a typical romance where the leads quickly fall for each other. His decision to stay came with conditions. His reasons for staying depended on Zhenya’s actions, and he was always ready to walk away if Zhenya crossed the line. As long as Zhenya stayed interested in him and didn’t betray him, he would remain. With this arrangement, Taekjoo cleared his name, regained full autonomy over his life, and ironically, gained a sex life too. LOL
Part 1 of the novel ends after a year of this situationship. Zhenya chose to stay in Korea, but Taekjoo had complete freedom to live his life and go on missions. They were rarely together. In fact, in one year, they didn’t even spend a total of 100 days together yet. Zhenya started secretly helping Taekjoo with his dangerous missions, partly so Taekjoo could finish faster and they could have more time together. He also visited Taekjoo’s mother during missions, i think lowkey to comfort her so she wouldn’t worry too much.
By this point, we slowly see genuine care growing between them, though neither of them fully recognized it yet. Taekjoo stayed in denial because of the abuse Zhenya put him through ofc, while Zhenya had never truly experienced love before. It wasn’t until the end of Volume 5 that Taekjoo began acknowledging his growing feelings and asked Zhenya to wait for him. (so if manhwa readers are looking forward for that lovey dovey and genuine pure love from both of them this season (or the whole part1), they would def be disappointed hahaha this story is def slow burn)
Good news though, they get married with just the people they care most about watching and we know that Zhenya is very much weak to spicy food

Can someone please give me some spoilers from the novel? I'm tired of the raping scenes, i want to know abt the environment of the story and characters, especially Taekjoo and Zhenya, how are they going to end or smthg!!
