There is a huge difference between a bunch of gay people, at an openly gay party, celebrating a gay relationship knowing you are gay, than coming out as gay to two obviously homophobic men (If Jaehyuk thought these friends of his would support his relationship with Garam, he would not have called him his "girlfriend" to them in the bar chapter) Not only was he about to force out Garam to these basically confirmed homophobes, but he also saying it on Garam's campus grounds for anyone in earshot to hear. Also, Garam's ex has no backup to his claim, no pictures, no recordings, so other than just saying it out loud, his threat falls flat, and therefore, Garam knows it's an empty threat just to rile him up. Jaehyuk is the type of person who, if someone says "Prove it," he will do just that without thinking of consequences, because when he gets caught up in the heat of the moment, his brain shuts off. Garam is super valid for thinking Jaehyuk is a threat for outing them, and not because he doesn't think he respects him, but because Jaehyuk can slip up so easily without intending to.

i'm confused, do you think this comment is saying otherwise? i'm pretty sure they're agreeing! they're saying that the reaction to sehan vs jaehyuk outing garam is biased towards jaehyuk when it's essentially the same thing. in the real world, to out someone as gay, you don't actually "need" proof. (you see as much when sehan spread rumors about garam in highschool. it's not like his classmates were there when he and garam got caught by his mom. it's also more than likely it spread amongst their parents, too.) garam doesn't think of sehan outing him to his coworkers as an empty threat, that was jaehyuk! jaehyuk stood up to sehan then, but now that he's started to feel some type of way, he was about to out himself AND garam to, like you said, known homophobes. my only thing is that it's not that he doesn't know the consequences, he just doesn't think the consequences will affect him specifically and that he's above that. i personally think it's the fault of the writing though because honestly jaehyuk thinking that "even celebrities are out as gay" and saying that to garam when it was only a couple months ago when he was violently homophobic makes jaehyuk out to be way more clueless than he actually is.
