100% agree, this happens a Lot. the problem with the portrayal of rape ia def not about mentioning It or talking about It. the problem is how It is depicted, If its respectful to real victims or If its Just there for shock value or porn. Theres no need at ALL for graphic immagery to make the reader understand what happened. If you want to read a manga with decent portrayal of abuse and its TERRIBLE influence on someone, Boy meets Maria is my recommendation for sure.
I did, I wrote that fact. If you see psychological in the tags, and it's an author known for their dark style, skip. What do people expect in a story that includes a cult? It's like reading a story about a prison and not expecting violence or a detective story about a murder and complaining about murder, baffling. Worst thing is, when it comes to Painter of the Night that romanticizes r*pe, people like this salivate and want more. This story doesn't condone anything like that

Remove the DETAILED rape and underage situation and the symbolism would still be the same. I don't understand the reason of portraying two things like that in such detail for the story to have an impact, and it's even worse when you know the story DEFINITELY doesn't need it AT ALL, because it's so well constructed that something thrown like that for shock value (or even worse: fetish) cheapens something very rich in all of its aspects. How unfortunate. The second story is really good tho
Idk if anyone can explain to me why was thus necessary maybe I'll understand why this is such a common thing to see in BL stories.
