Everything I've found is locked after a certain amount of chapters. I went looking for a different one and it's locked too. Sad stuff. I was even willing to pay at one point but then they locked how you could pay to some shady shit. You have to message somebody first before you can even think about paying, that's shady af.

They can absolutely do that here, there are so many scanlation groups that do this without ai, but because there are huge groups like paradise scans who pump out hundreds of translated chapters those groups get pushed to the side or even bullied into stopping. Of course none of us are heros for being here, but if I am going to read translated comicsp I want it done by humans,especially if it's going to be behind a paywall. And fyi, most authors are actually perfectly fine with pirating.

I prefer shitty translations done by REAL people who can at least keep certain things like pronouns consistent because they're a person who can think about that, or just officials.

Pronouns in Japanese, Korean and Chinese are typically gender neutral. They don't refer to people as "he" or "she" the same way as many western languages do. They either refer to a title "teacher," "auntie," "uncle," "brother," "sister," etc, or they use a completely gender neutral term for that person. Sorry to burst your bubble but gendered pronouns are entirely added for people like you, not in the original script.
That's why there's often confusion in certain series on why certain characters are male or female. They were likely referred to the entire time as gender neutral.
As for unnecessary AI, it's unnecessary when I go into Home Depo and they use it to tell me a description of an appliance rather than being able to know where to look up basic things about it on their own website. It's unnecessary when it's used by major corporations who are the largest funders of this sort of thing and who are in control whether it sinks or swims. But go off, ig. Yelling at random people on the internet on their down times sure is a way to live, instead of getting mad at the people who actually matter. You made real change in the world, congrats.
