Hm... I get your point... but I think is a valid reason for his interest to be piqued. The same goes for mc that got interested because he's good looking and helped her once. From that they could get to properly know each other and slowly fall in love. Besides... if you go by that first impressions motives... the marquis only got interested in her because anothe man (the prince) seemed to be interested in her... which is not less shtty tbh...
Honestly knowing black hair is the ml kinda saddens me a bit... because I love their interactions in a non romantic way. I think him having her being adopted into his house and taking her as his sister would be more interesting. Mc is clearly traumatized regarding familial love and bonds... and I'd rather their relationship become that kind and help her heal in that way than the view that romantic love is a panacea.
I think at this point is clear that marquis will fall for her as per rofan rules... but I still wish prince was the ml... u.u
