Any interpretation of dion’s character ?

I’m a bit confused about his motivations. Like i guess he is attracted to the FL but there’s also something deeper than that? Very contradictory idk if anyone has any insight about his character. He has a desire to see her crumble but then carries out her orders for a crumb of affection? I have no idea why he’s attracted to her?

imo Deon doesnt have a proper sense of self. he's more like a weapon shaped by Lante. in the side stories, when they were younger, Achille and Xana were the only ones who were nice to him even though he didnt appreciate their kindness. when Lante ordered Deon to kill Achille, him lacking emotional comprehension, simply carried out the order because that’s what he was conditioned to do. and when Xana grieved over Achille's death, perhaps something unfamiliar surged within him. feelings which he couldnt understand, so he grew obsessed to it. maybe that's why he's so fixated to making Xana cry cus he wants to evoke those emotions again. Even so, he could never hurt Xana because she became the center of his emotions and being. without her, he's just a lost dog with no purpose in life.
