The story and worlbuilding is good (nobody even said anything about the story so i dont underatand why YOU are the one saying ppl are reading with their ass) but gjord is anything except well written lol and i cant even be mad at what you said cause this part “no Gjord is not the perfect smutty obsessive seme of the yaoi universe” made me laugh… im BEGGING you to read the novel cause gjord is exactly what you just described oh my god you actually accidentally hit the nail on the head; also him “lacking empathy” for ishmion is … one way to put it. Its more accurate to say that he threatens to kill him and tries to get him killed by abandoning him after sylhan is saved thanks to ishmion, oh and physically assaults him at every turn. But thats not even where it stops? He forces ishmion to also experiment on more people than necessary to develop a cure for sylhan, cause apparently other peoples lives matter less.
Part of why people love the “knight” archetype is because theyre supposed to be you know.. good people. Like maybe think of the OG knight, Aragorn. Thats what usually pops into ppls minds when they envision a knight not this douchebag
Mmh i see, well since I indeed havent read the novel, it does limit my understanding of the character. Thank you for your honest reply (and for spoiling me lol idc). I was a bit fustrated when writing this comment, since I'm reading a lot and a lot of yaoi with very simple minded couples (classic "perfect" seme that solves everything with cute innocent and lucky uke etc) and I really thought that Gjord was interesting (so it pissed me off that he gets hate but other classic seme dont).
You also brought a good argument on the assault. Again, probably read too many yaoi, making me normalize that shit when it shouldn't... (normalizing or thinking it wasnt that bad compared to others, but damn, bruh on myself).
For this, I would like to agree; but the way I understand it, Gjord doesnt want to save Sylhan; he wants to bring him back to the way it was before. While the queen and her followings have most of the power, and the old lady that died (cant remember her name) didnt help much; i dont see how that can be achieved without playing low profile, working in the shadows and being hella patient. Maybe i didnt take time to think about it more tho

What are you guys all saying? Are you reading the plot with your ass? The story itself is well written,
(At least for me) and no Gjord is not the perfect smutty obsessive seme of the yaoi universe. Hes pretty realistic to me, human, fustrated, and no he cannot do what he wants caus there will be consequences (something a lot of yaoi stories forget about?? Idk). He wants to give Sylhan everything back, as far as he can (throne, title, reputation, etc). He cannot just go kill the queen, the kingdom wont accept it and not everybody is on Sylhan's side. He has to play checkmate. And it takes time. (Plus Sylhan's mental state isnt helping, and it wouldnt be good to just tell him everything and give him a mental shock too). And given his situation (literally his arm cut off for Sylhan's sake), he has the right to be frustrated (caus hes human too, not a robotic rich and unthinking seme). I agree that he didnt handle perfectly Sylhan's return and their discussions. He let out his anger on him, thats for sure. That really did not help sylhan... but my god can you really put all the blame on him??? Arm cut, almost killing himself with dark magic, handling the queens plans, and seeing your loverboy suffering and struggling but not following your plans.
I do have to say i did not read the webnovel, so if im wrong , please do explain. But from what I read on the manhwa, thats my understanding.
One thing that is for sure that we can blame him is his lack of empathy for ishmion, who seems to be very likeable, helpful and loyal. For that, hes not very thankful, which is truly as shame.
