Maybe you don't get it, but familiar bonds especially parents can't be easily broken off, especially hye sung only have his mom back then to show him love so he's very attached to her, and again don't project your own self to hye sung or the others characters

The author then make Hye Sung questioning more the mom can be that kind so why did she abandoned him??? Hye Sung then asked is he going to be judged again as a bad person because having that feelings. HE TRULY BEING GASLIGHTED SO BAD THAT HE BELIEVE HE IS A BAD PERSON TO HATE HER. Dang this is so disappointing
