Y'all are for real exhausting. This ain't no docu series nor was it written to tell the history of a certain culture, it's just a fantasy story. Authors all over the world get inspiration and use elements from other cultures and/or countries. It's not that deep and no one is thinking racism other than u. Y'all keep using racism for every little thing, go read the definition one more time. In so many stories white skin are also portrayed as evil but no one cares, it's a story, someone is bound to be evil. Enjoying a story for what it is and not nitpicking everything challenge failed
The use of "y'all" is super telling, and also genuinely 99% of these stories w "oriental"(sub-saharan, Arabic influence) depict the orientalist ethnic group as ONE: dark skinned, explained usually by the fact their background is somewhere hot of course, TWO: real violent and brutal.
Point one is obvious and not bad on its own, but when u take into account the blatant orientalist(modern definition) that is shown in point two and in the clothing and depiction of other culture and characterization, it's messed up. Also, no damn Asians are out here making stories where their race or look alike race is evil and you know why.
Have you read any other stories? Cuz in every other story out there the evil character is one of their own race btw since that's the universe they're in. I don't know how many oriental ones u have read but in the most i did it wasn't about the skin color but about the position that chara held. A sultan or a monarch was bound to be evil bcuz of the status, not bcuz he had darker skin. Authors don't go out of their way to create a dark skin character to make it evil, they use whites plenty of times. If the story is set in Egypt for example, of course it won't be a story of whites only.
Yes I have??? Also, someone who has dark skin can be evil. But why is that the trend? Why is it more often than not someone who dark skinned who's violent and the villain?? I think ur just being ignorant. I've enjoyed stories like BWATs new manhwa, but I'm not ignorant enough to ignore the stereotyping and the pattern. East Asian culture is also extremely colorist and racist and it shows in a lot of works and in their subconscious mind. Don't be ignorant because you just look dumb

What's their obsession with orientalism?! Like you can't appreciate a BROWN culture while making brown people evil or violent! Also of course let's mix some south Asian traditions with Arab with Egyptian and African and not do any research about any of those! Authors aren't even trying to hide their racism atp
