As an African American, I truly don’t know how to feel about this story. I love this author, and while they might not have ill intentions with the setting and truly just want to write a story about two different people coming together in an era when it was frowned upon, I fear this is just a little too fresh. Mainly because slavery, to some extent, still happens in the US, on top of many other controversial reasons for why this was a bad idea from the start. It’s just weird to write a story about something so traumatic and based around a culture still feeling it's effect as someone that has no connection the topic at all. ESPECIALLY opening up the entire thing with a Poc referring to themself as someone’s slave, it’s belittling of anyones ancestors that experienced this. I really hope the author sees that people aren’t just gonna let this slide. Save your rep before this gets worse
