I think anyone who lets fiction affect them to that point need to go outside more and interact with real gay/lgbtq+ community.
Also, porn industry has actual people in it that are being exploited.
Manwha has scribbles on paper.
I do not consider them same at all.
I can read dark topics in a book and get annoyed by it enough to drop the whole thing but authors still shouldn’t get harassment over it because fiction is only fiction. Now, actions that people do “because of that fiction” is also up to people, you don’t get to blame fiction on it because normal people can read it and move on with their life without doing anything.
I’m personally aro/ace. I have no interest in romance IRL but I can read bl, hetero and gl stuff. I tend to lean towards BL bc I do not like being in girls place in hetero, plus female characters are notoriously bad written.
I will joke about non-gay characters being queer-coded and will ship them with other male character because why not? They are characters. It’s not real.
However I do try to stay away from people shipping real actors and people because it feels like overstepping boundaries so I do agree that doing that is invasive, however fiction is free game.
I would say yes and no. By dictionary definition its not just pornographic films that count as porn, images and writing can be one as well, therefore BL can be and is a form of pornography. It all comes down to if that BL was intended solely for sexual enticement, or not, and how the reader engages with that piece of work.
But I agree that BL is less harmful than porn films in the way that less people in real life are being sexually exploited but it can still negatively affect a person through addiction development and etc
Yaoi is porn, everything that contains nude and sexual content is porn. I think both of them are harmful, unrealistic and creates insensitivity (with rape) and infantilization occurs in both, those big eyes, naive personality small height and emotional dependence in a bottom is infantilization, an adult doesnt act that way (wild beast warning, ballboy tactics, cat therapy, twinks), and yes, bl are mostly consumed by women, and the other industry by men, but there are always men who consumes bl and women who consumes xvideos. In bl, wich ones are the most famous? Jinx, Pearl boy, Codename Anastasia, all of them contain rape and creates insensitivity and even when it is a cute manwha with porn, it still harm mental health (confirmed by science) and can even make people see others differently (for example women hate towards other women). Personally i think the matter of fact is the person who consumes it, porn will make an incel man and porn can make a misogynist woman, it depends on the mental strenght the consumer has for them to handle correctly reality and fiction, women can think a dick of 12 cm is small and men can think a brown pussy is dirty as an alteration in the way rhey persive reality.
Porn wether it is drawn, acted, gay, lesbic or straight will always harm mental state. It is not the equivalent, it is the same, wether it has plot or doesnt it still has porn. Now if we talk about the other side of the industry (actors, mangakas, writers) ofc they are different in terms of treatment in their company and payment.

i have a lot of guy friends who tell me they think that yaoi is like the female mainstream version of p*rn and while i do not agree in the sense that the p*rn industry is a lot
more harmful than the gooner manga industry and the fact that there are actual plot lines in bl
they are technically both entertainment media used for pleasure and both create extremely oversexualized views of men and women i dont watch p*rn so in mangas for example i feel like there has been an oversaturation of r*pe tropes and infantilization etc
when i talk to my fujoshi friends sometimes i feel like its affected them in a way where we will be outside and they connect any kind of male interaction as yaoi and gay
idk genuinely want to know what other people think ab this topic
