Sad thing is, it was actually such an interesting trope too (slave x master). Definitely could have lived without romanticizing a sensitive historical moment

But actual historical events where a huge number of people died—that’s a really poor choice.
A master/slave yaoi set in that era—I mean, it was obvious there would be a lot of criticism; she really should have just stuck to cowboys, or if she absolutely wanted to draw or tell a master/slave story, she should have done it in a completely different era.
