racist shitty depiction of a very sensitive topic. White savior "EX"SLAVE OWNER X SLAVE....if that doesnt make enough of a reason, here, read the rest
1. The genocide of African Americans in the U.S. is so brutal that it’s completely morally impossible to make a love story about an ex slave owner and an ex slave.
I’m talking about European Americans using African Americans as crocodile bait, using their skin as leather, eating them, making the two strongest male slaves fight to the death out of pure entertainment, FORCING male African slaves rape their mother (origin of the word motherfucker), whipping African Americans so hard their backs were lacerated, brand them like animals, enforce iron collars on them to prevent them from resting and other various torture methods (let’s not even get into the whole process of the displacement of native Africans from their homelands to the United States). How can you even think to create between such a violent oppressor and the oppressed???
2. The “white savior” act in the first chapter is already extremely inaccurate, showing the pure ignorance the author has on the subject.
After the slavery abolition act of 1833 was passed, there were still slaves working for free for their “owners”, and if not, for extremely little pay. Why? Because they had been enslaved for sooo long jt was impossible for them to function outside in the real world. They had no money, and if they did, it’s not like they would be able to do much with it. They didn’t own any land, didnt own any farming implements and didn’t know how to farm, didn’t receive any education so they didn’t know how to read or write. After being heavily groomed and manipulated into thinking that your sole purpose consists of only physical labor and nothing else, then it’s basically impossible to break out of this mentality.
3. The “fiction doesn’t affect reality”… little broader than that.
Still thinking that fiction doesn’t affect reality is an extremely naive and ignorant mentality. Let’s take the example of “the birth of a nation”. It is an extremely racist film made by D.W. portraying African Americans as “violent, savage rapists” who prey on the white race, specifically white women. It therefore introduces the idea of the KKK, and portrays them as the heroes, being noble vigilantes who will restore white supremacy. And as we all know (I hope), the KKK were an extremely prominently terrorist group during the Jim Crow era, where the group still exists today. Although this is an extreme example, this is just to show the immense impact it had on society, even while still being fiction. Now, imagine the, like yall like to portray, the oh so ignorant South Koreans who don’t know much about American history see what’s being portrayed in the manhwa? It would water down the intense and brutal history of the 300 years of African American genocide, and think it’s on the same level as a normal bully x bullied romance. So, this argument just does not work at all.
The whole thing is tonedeaf af. Leans into racist tropes like the slave/master dynamic and the white savior narrative. To me, it's like trying to romanticize a Nazi/Jewish relationship or an Imperial Japanese soldier/comfort woman relationship. The history behind those dynamics makes them really inappropriate to frame as romance.
The enslaved characters barely feel like characters, either. They only exist to thank the MC for "saving" them to show the viewer he was "one of the good ones", which just makes the whole thing even more tasteless.
There's also the half Native ML, which, let's be real, it feels like he's only half Native so the author didn't have to engage with any actual tribal identity or cultural specificity. Instead, he just gets "exotic" tan skin.
And on top of that, Jaxx admitted they had done little to no research on the history. So we know that it was going to be straight cheeks.

Guys please someone explain the entire reason for cancelation... I didn't read it and I have no back ground from history behind west world (only few stuff)...please no disrespect
