"Real racists"? Take one quick look at this comment section. Some of these people are very much real racists.

Nobody thinks canceling one manhwa is going to end racism. That's a lazy strawman. The point is that media isn't above criticism, especially when it tackles something as historically loaded as slavery.

This comment section alone proves why these discussions matter. I've seen people having to be taught about racist tropes, the realities of slavery after abolition, colorism, and the white savior trope because of this discussion. I've also seen people openly defend lynching, throw around slurs, tell Black and Indigenous people to "get over it," and claim colonization was a good thing.

An under-researched story might not be written with malicious intent, but that doesn't make it completely harmless. Ignorance doesn't stay confined to fiction only. The way stories frame history can influences how people understand it, and the reactions here show exactly why thoughtful portrayals and criticism both matter.

Not knowing about history you base your story off of should have pushback. Being mad over the author agreeing with the everyone with valid criticism over this tells me everything I need to know.

Yes guys lets ignore these stories that glorify real historical events and enable people to be willfully ignorant and turn a blind eye to topics like slavery and racism.
