He made his omega father who gave him birth eat poison, he is a dominant alpha and their pheromones mess up with their brain. So, he can't feel certain emotions he thinks he is doing right thing in his head(bro works like a algorithm) but morally or emotionally that would be wrong...
Also, his alpha father abused him because he knows that Grayson will always hurt others as he is already lost case and to make him a functional human in society he abused him, thats why he is more messed up...

I didn’t read the novel but I saw someone explain why they don’t really hate Grayson. I forgot the exact term but Grayson viewed their parents’ abuse(discipline?) to them differently. If Chase thought of it as traumatic, Grayson is different. So when he told Chase that Chase did it with a dog, for him, he thought was genuinely helping Chase because it was what was taught to them as kids.

FYI with all said below, I still hate him and don't think that everything he's been trough can excuse him from all the nonsense and pain he made others go through! (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

Basically he's neurodivergant, plus his brain got scrambled from too strong pheromones on a child's body, but with proper education it wouldn't have been that bad. He became so messed up due to his childhood education being down right psychotic abuse and nobody being a proper adult and teaching him about morals and normal rules of the world.
His father didn't even want kids or like one i think, but loved his dad so obsessively that they had a bunch of kids and destroyed them with 'education'. The author tries to shrug it of as the father being raised like that by the grampa and not knowing how to be a good parent, but their whole family is down right insane.
Plus the dad of all these kids wanted a big family, enough to basically force his husband to keep having kids that nobody wanted, just for the dream of 'big family', but when it came to actually taking care of all these kids that came out of this dream he's somehow can't be a parent. It's fine if he doesn't want to raise them they are rich, but for fucks sake he's a pushover about all the abuse they experience in that house and doesn't do anything substantial. Than why have all these kids? Go to play with relatives kids or something!
As you can see i hate the parents even more than Grayson, but that doesn't mean i like him. I know that for most people all these reasons and more are enough to love him as a tragic mc who went through soooooo much, but for me the things he did to baby Chase are unforgivable.

Ok just to clarify, Ashley got Koi impregnated kind of accidentally. Ashley and Koi thought all this time that Koi was a beta till they did it after they got separated for 10 years. Ashley thought he mutated Koi and was trying to shoot his shot by impregnating him. Well it turns out Koi is a dominant omega. Koi wanted a big family since Ashley is an only child and Koi lost his brother to a car accident. They both agreed to 3 children.

We all know that a dominant alpha can control fertilization right? But Ashley can’t, when Koi and him broke up for 10 years, Ashley harmed himself and intentionally damaged his brain. By the time when he and Koi reunited part of his brain was already damaged. His emotions are slowly fading and there’s no way to reverse it. Now the reason why he can no longer control fertilization is because of his brain damage. He can’t get vasectomy either because of it and Koi can’t mark him because the part of his brain that retains an omega mark has been damaged. That’s why only Koi has been marked by him and Koi can’t mark him.

For his children, the reason why his children manifested early is because of the damaged Ashley done to himself. Ashley can’t feel emotions that’s why he can be so indifferent to his own children. Nonetheless he tried his best. They went to every doctors and hospital there is to have the children cured. It was disappointment after disappointment. Specially to Koi so he did his best to teach them how to cope up. Like what he said, he only wants two things for his children “Not to kill and not to get killed.” The parenting may look weird but Ashley feel deeply for his own children. They are all full grown adults now and yet they still have centralized security systems that reports to Ashley. Ashley could have had done what his father did after handing the company to him but he didn’t. Knowing how obsessed he is to Koi he could have just enjoy his time with Koi but instead he entered politics to gain more power and connections. He knows whatever troubles his children might get into power and connections will get them out of it.

It’s in another novel but Nathaniel killed someone for Chrissy. He’s a lawyer and he killed someone. He got acquitted and when Chrissy asked how he did it. Chrissy said connections and dirty political secrets they know.
