as someone with step siblings i hate the genre. I think the dynamic you have with your step siblings is often alike to a real sibling (since i have both). and fucking or loving (romanically) someone you have a family dynamic with is not hot

Idk I nearly had a step sibling once and while I’d never fuck them that person could be no greater than a complete stranger to me. Not all step siblings r raised as family after all. Anyway it’s fiction. I don’t like it either but I guess it’s not that different than the “forced to live under one roof with my enemy” type stories so some folks like it. I swear it was so so popular back in the 2010s there’s was hundreds of anime being pumped out about this like brother’s conflict and kiss x sis. That one was so fucked :’)

Honestly, I don't think anyone actually enjoyed the plot. People were just drawn to it cuz of the 'step-sibling' trope. There's always a weird attraction to forbidden things, that’s what caught everyone's attention I guess. To me, it feels like a fetish, idk... honestly, I'm confused too
