I think the very last quote of the ml gave people a bad taste, cuz I agree that slavery should not be romanticized at all, but also would’ve been a good story for people to know abt the history of slavery. If the author was only using the history to educate people, then it wouldve been good. I’m black too and i’m at least glad that the author is showing america's part of history.

What do you mean? If you want to know the story, go read a book or watch a documentary, kid.
Why are they seeking legitimacy in a BL story? Are we all crazy? Don't you know the difference between concepts?

ik it’s a bl which im pretty sure the author wanted to add at least accurate information abt the history. but im not expecting a documentary, bl fiction kind of shape how people understand history, especially if they’re unfamiliar with the real events. i’m jst saying we should be mindful of the historical accuracy

If BL content is shaping your way of thinking and understanding events and history, I don't know what to tell you.
Get out of your comfort zone or you will remain ignorant if you are looking for guidance and clarification for your lives in BL romantic fiction.

girl i’m not even saying people should rely on bl to learn history. my point is that all fiction can influence how audiences perceive historical periods, culture or events. That’s why i’m saying that representation and historical context are valid, even for fictional works

You should be able to write and read whatever you want. That's called freedom of expression.
You sound like someone who wants a dictatorship where that doesn't happen.
