Red Lanterns

I don't like how the ML handled the conversation, dismissing Paula's worries.
I was reminded of the movie "Raise the Red Lantern" where the emperor has a favorite concubine and at the end of the movie she asks the emperor not to choose her in her next life because love wasn't worth all the pain their relationship caused them.
Paula is trying to say exactly that, that she loves him but the idea of everything that revolves around their relathionship scares and hurts her too much

i completely disagree she's responding from trauma and he's trying to assure her over and over again that his feelings are not shallow and aren't going anywhere even in the face of her trauma just like she did for him when he was at his lowest. what she truly wants is someone who won't leave even if she thrashes about.

Can't say I agree. He doesn't know the extent of her trauma, but she never told him anything too. Not about the beatings, abuse, slurs, he can only guess by how she reacts to her own sister.
He's seeing her for the first time, bit by bit, down to how rough her hands actually are. He's not dismissing her fears, he's talking her through them.
