Hehe truth. I find myself more lenient/understanding with this character because of the isolation he had as a child; so from what I understand he just doesn’t see anything wrong in the way he says and expects things (he’s strong, so he must think everyone must be at a potent level as his if they’re mages). Of course it’s an annoying personality trait that these male leads love to have, but from all the ones I’ve read with these manners, this ml captures a decent picture of the affects and behavior of someone who has been stripped away from basic socialization they should have had as a child. I’m not sure if there’s a novel for this story, but as long as it keeps updating we can cross our fingers for a better socialized ml as we progress, haha

i love the cute shy bois! but i think of "asshole except to love interest" as a subtype of cold icy northern duke. both ick me out. also bc "asshole except to love interest" is a real life thing. ie misogynists who only treat a woman well if they are trying to smash
agh i really hate the trope of MLs who are sweet to the MC but shitty to literally everyone else. especially when they're terrible to their employees, giving them unrealistic demands like build a tower in 2 weeks when you're supposed to be on holiday. it's not funny, just irritating. it doesn't show their devotion or love either, since it's other people's forced labor. isekai manhwa point out abusive, irrational capitalistic bosses in the real world and then make the ML exactly that character, but we're supposed to gush over it bc they're drawn as pretty bois?
