Read the novel. He did actually like her but he was also conflicted with his feelings since he’s a paladin and must only serve god. There’s a reason why he’s obsessive in this life.

Spoiler warning. Ml was adopted by the temple and was raised like a priest. He didn’t necessarily need a partner since he’s a paladin but the allied kingdoms made a law just so that he was forced to have one. Fl was the one who approached him first in the first timeline and since she’s a grade 10, she’s not really needed by ml. Ml tried to avoid her due to his oath as a paladin/holy knight but he does send her her share. When they became intimate the fl thought he hated her because he went against his oath and that she tarnished him. He was actually conflicted by his feelings but decided to leave the temple and go back to fl, that’s when he found out she died. After finding out that she lived poorly since all the shares he gave her was given to the count and that she was set up by the princess, he killed the royal family and went back in time to find her. Took him years killing a lot of monsters, essentially becoming a king of the monsters. When he found her in her 2nd life, he promised that he will not let her die again. He actually became obsessed with her, manipulating some events in order for her to not leave him. He also wants to be intimate with her using purification as an excuse. The novel is much more spicier and detailed so I recommend reading it.
