Was surprised how low the rating is but after going deep into the comments I realized many people may have been rating this based off their expectations for a love story. I can't see Todd as anything other than the devil, and I don't think he is supposed to be taken too literally given how heavy the biblical allusions are.

I think Dennis's job/the contractor's instructions parallel faith and god's commandments to purity. Todd tests Dennis's faith with seduction and deceit. Dennis killing the lamb for Todd is synonymous to him selling his soul to devil because Dennis puts his devotion to Todd over his faith by disobeying the boss's commands/his job to guard the lamb.

Dennis even says he feels like he is being watched from heaven, making a direct reference to divine judgement and giving into what's forbidden.

This is pretty much a gay retelling of adam and eve where the garden of eden is the isolated mountains, the boss's ONE instruction is god's one order to not eat fruit from the tree, and Todd is the serpent. Except Dennis gets slimed out instead of exiled like Adam. Loved it though. The rating should be higher especially considering the art. it hits different at night
