I'm hoping next chapter covers that cause it's a stupid plot hole. Maybe they were given funds or smth to relocate the kids but didn't and just killed them, which lead to those ghosts?

So let me get this straight: The Duke has the power to close a corrupt orphanage, but he doesn't have the decency to secure housing for the kids first? (￣∇￣")
These children only stayed in that haunted, miserable place because they were desperate and destitute. And to make it worse, he's letting the evil director be the one to throw them out? That's not justice; that's just passing the cruel buck. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
