It's also mentioned that coco might be a spirit beast back when she was still a puppy. So i think it's just the same sense as magical dragon transforming into a human and having a love interest. If look at that by your point then those genres with magical dragons or beast who can transform into human and vice versa is disgusting.

Huh? Most of those mythical or spiritual beings aren't comparable to ordinary animals tho. They're usually portrayed as sapient, humanlike entities from the start. Their species might be different, but they're clearly people in terms of how they think and behave. Coco wasn't introduced that way. She was introduced as a literal stray dog that Chloe found and cared for. That's the identity and relationship the audience was given first So saying "she might be a spirit beast" doesn't suddenly make her equivalent to a dragon or some other already-sapient mythical being. That's the author's later justification for why she can be treated as a human character and potentially have a romantic relationship with the blond boy. That's why your comparison doesn't really work. The issue is how Coco was originally portrayed, not simply whether a non-human character can eventually become human.

I think this guy meant something differently. He was talking about how the author kind of lost the plot because this was supposed to be Chloe and Coco, yet the kid kept appearing and somehow steals the supposed moments between the main characters. And well, Coco is a dog so it's natural she doesn't understand much of human bonds, so maybe some scenes do feel a bit forced. Anyways, I think he's just angry about the implied scenes of the kid being a romantic interest for mc.

I think the issue here was about the author who wrote implying things. They could have written the story with pure friendship instead of making the boy always blush around her (having one-sided crush).
