Exactly, the comparison is staggering honestly. While he might have always been in the wider twink category, his figure, his expressions, the way the author overall portrays him have actually visibly shifted to become far more feminine AND petite. There isn't something inherently wrong with such depictions of men, but the choice to make these changes sure is interesting. Especially since the only thing they add to the plot is a "damsel in distress" air about him.
as the story goes on it begins to feel less like a bl and “straight coded “ where if you slapped a wig on the mc they could easily pass for a girl. As you said, nothing inherently wrong with that. However, i do think it’s interesting because it even reflects in their personalities. Like reading chapter one, i would describe the mc as someone who is definitely mischievous, driven, has a sense of humor, and is overall tough because of the lifestyle he’s lived up until meeting ml. Now…i feel like im looking at a totally different character. Sometimes, i wonder if the reason for that is because many authors don’t actually know how to write heterosexual relationships, or just complex characters in general.

The feminization / twinkization of mcs in bl really needs to be studied
