many chapters before this, autor alluded to the systematic exploitation and violence that the uncle perpetrated against them, they were never the source of the problem, but their uncle led them to hell (even without justifying anything, they are still victims as well as perpetrators)

I agree, bad lasts may explain bad behavior but they don’t excuse it is smth that should be constantly repeated while reading this
