I’m pretty sure that’s how men think. That death is the worst thing that could happen and since she’s not dead, she can survive and thrive but as women, we know that’s not the case. Death alone is actually a pretty good fate. There’s so many worse fates I can think of and her situation is one of them.

They're both in a shitty impossible situation, and Lizan accidentally blinding him and leading to his addiction. Which leads to this hellscape journey of resolving guilt, and him in turn hurting if not fucking more. This is just a showcase of how women get fucked over by the very system patriarchy and imperialism have propped up, and I think it's actually great depicting that. What I think poorly handled here is the Valde guy's monologue, he's spiralling in his own guilt now and the first think he thinks about how he hurt and in turn is feeling shitty about it oh no, how is he articulate in his mind. I wonder if this was intentional depiction of men's brain. Death would be a reprieve but fuck no she's a survivor she should fight to live, now. It's a good thing this hetmanwha makes you ask the important questions.
