I marinated it for so long. Worth it

First time reading i had been letting it sit for so long man. I needed to be in the right mood. It was as good as I thought it would be. I loved both characters and the art was amazing. Id say 9/10 I wanted more happy extras.

Je oh was truly complex. He was rock bottom for so long, he'd do anything to raise himself from the gutter. Him and Hee seong(i think that's her name) are like mirror images of each other. But where Hee seong couldnt appreciate true emotions in her search for power after rising back up, even pushing others down to uplift herself, Je-oh figured out what was truly worth it for him and also learned to empathize with those still struggling like he was. I liked that he was angry and that the desperate desire for smth better never left him. He hated his enemies, played his part when he needed to, and tried everything he could. In simple terms, hes a survivor and a fighter. The artist was a genius with his facial expressions too like he had the best expressions and the panels with him sneering, crying, glaring, smiling evily etc were so good. Ah, my evil twink i love you.

Seung rok I also loved. Hes not the typical all powerful rich and cold ceo type this type of story inevitably has(i guess president cheol fulfills that role? Boring). Hes definitely a cute puppy/ruthless wolf. Obedient to those he loves, a menace to his enemies. Seong rok is definitely a product of his environment, an abandoned child forced to expect scraps from those he loves. Its no wonder he clung to Hee seong. She might like him a little, but in the grand scheme, she'd be happy if he was alive after everything is over, but she'd abandon him immediately if he didnt suit her purposes. The first time he truly fell in love is with Jeoh, who even if he didnt fully reciprocate Seong roks feelings at first and was just using him, Jeoh rlly put his own skin in the game, was willing to exchange tangible interest(not just some sweet words), and trying everything he could including risking his own self to bail Seung rok out. Seung rok saved Jeoh, so Jeoh saved him. Two ppl at the bottom of society desperately clung to each other while those in power just wanted to use and abuse them. Jeoh was smart too, he saw that while Seung rok might be a murderer, to those he loves, he was a shield and a knife. He wanted that for himself, so he tried every means to get it. When he succeeded, he probably didnt expect himself to love him so much. But seung rok is too good. Its impossible not to love him. In the end, they saved each other mentally and physically. I loved them.

The side characters had their own motivations and my favorite was the little prostitute boy that Jeoh helps(i forgot his name). Even tho the author kinda annoyed me when she made him fall for president cheol. If I wanted to read about a typical cold ceo + prostitute turned sugar baby substitute(like really author how many cliches can you add man) id read a different book its so boring. But I liked his character even if I found president cheol annoying. I liked that when push came to shove, he'd stab president cheol for Jeoh and he'd beg for help to save Jeoh. So basically I liked his and Jeoh friendship, but i didnt care for his ship sorry.

For the officer with the dead bro, he was crazy annoying to me at first bc it felt like he kept going after the little guys. Like yeah our leads were killing ppl, but they were bad ppl ok? Free my man! But thankfully he figured it out in the end, hopefully in the future he isnt so stickler and allows for some grey areas in his cases. The reveal that his bro died at Hee seongs and her husband's hands...crazy.

Lastly I wanna say that I adore that this author stands on business and is also a revenge lover. Too many authors like to pull that forgiveness is healing and letting trash and tormentors off with a slap on the wrist. This author said every btch in here that harms my leads will pay, trust. And she meant that. Jeoh and Seung rok meant that. The scenes where they kill their enemies(multiple times!) are so satisfying(and so hot sorry). Like Jeoh never once fell into that weird thinking so many of these MCs fall into, thinking that he'd be better off not letting his enemies die. No, imma be happy after I see them suffer. Exactly. Even Hee seong, I thought they might let her go since she was Seung rok ex but nah she went to prison too. Thanks for that.

I also appreciate that the author was clear about giving just punishments. They didnt just focus on Hee seong cause she was the loudest, they made sure they killed the husband too. Too many times authors pick the weakest link to take the fall(usually a women unfortunately not that Hee seong shouldnt die, she should) and those in power(usually men) might just lose their business, go to jail, fall ill or smth. Its like the authors be scared to kill the too powerful even in fiction and only the mistresses/exs/Bosses wife/love rival/bosses daughter/etc end up miserable. Nope everybody the corrupt police officer, the pimps, that head officer, the author ticked them off one by one and didnt just forget what they did and let Hee seong take the blame(im not joking if u notice too many novels do this and the men that condoned it or acted behind the scenes are forgotten).

Anyway the plot was simple but nice in its simplicity. Im glad the MCs got away with it and i hope they're happy forever. This reads like a revenge fantasy and I appreciate that. My only regret is that president cheol that rapist got a happy ending but at least he was useful(still dont like him no matter how well you draw him author the little prostitute should've ended up with someone better).
