I’d have to stop you there. You talk as if Vaye wasn’t at the ripe age of 20 when he met 17 year old Lorena. The assumption that he doesn’t “know how to love” is off. He KNOWS how to. In fact, he’s so full of love for her that it’s terrifying.
I got to remind you that he was born with a silver spoon. Privileged. He sees Lorena no more than a possession, approached her knowing his plans to abolish her country, and to kill her father. He takes her to a foreign country where she had to fight for her place. He had mistresses although out their marriage. It IS pitiful that he keeps on going after her, but it’s not really fair to say “they lacked communication on both side” when the other clearly is the heaviest on the balance scale.

I genuienly felt bad for vaye, atleast sometimes. I fo believe not every character has to redeem and be a better person in the end, but I think he had so much potential to grow as a person and maybe end of with a quiet peaceful family of his own. I couldn't bring myself to hate him tbh. I think the whole 7 years marriage where fl talks about how bad it was, was not only vays fault, the communication was not there, from both sides. And since vaye never knew the "right way to love" he got so weird/evil. In no way am I excusing his actions or behaviour, but I truly do not think he is as a bad person the story makes him out to be....
