The lore is actually what will basically spoil most the story for both Amon and Gwen. This story is intentional in that we are viewing and discovering things from Na-in pov. Which is why its hard to make senss of things.
However if you would like some extra world building that will hint at explanation on what Amon and Gwen are as beings, then i recommend the authors other Completed story that also has a manhwa. Its a part of the same world except the setting is actually based near where Gwen came from.
Its called; I can see your Stats!

Its a good read and not so shrowded confusion bc the Character you follow isnt being drugged to forget things.
If you dont wanna read that but want basic spoilers then here
Spoilers
Amon is a dragon, not a god,in fact there are more dragons across the world (though they are still powerful beings and are very territorial with their land and people). Na in is his chosen mate its why he is so fixated on him. Dragons in this world fit the dragon stereotype for the most part, greedy, territorial, they process emotions different and violent, however very devoted to their mates. Without getting too spoilery, Unfortunately, Na in's past trauma and the shitty village theyre in is what created this situation. Gwen is a transmigrator (hence the futuristic stuff) who comes from a land of mages, (a place that also has dragons, in fact more commonly) so he knows what Amon is, he came to this place specifically for Na in.
Thats pretty much the basics.
Ohh, thanks for giving the basic rundown. Now I kind of understand why Amon is like that. But the ritual thing where they read the scriptures and burn incense and the servants gaslight him as he experiences memory gaps and Na-in himself even said that he has some sort of memory gap after rituals. Perhaps it's to not make Na-in remember unpleasent details, the ritual seem to occur after Na-in and Amon engages in relation. Well, I'm gonna stick around and see how it unfolds
Youre thought process is on the right path about the memory thing, and when you find out more itll probably break your heart. Gwen truly becomes a light he needed. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story and maybe even read their previous one (not as emotionally tense and heart breaking as this one, definitely more light hearted and action based)

I cant really figure out the story, Na-in is hinted to have a past, Amon is seemingly trying to tie Na-in to himself. The priests guys are doing some voodoo shit and making him forget stuff amd there's Osen Iyad who seems to harbor ill-wish towards Na-in and Na-in's attendants gaslight him
Gwen is trying to get close to Na-in, though a bit of a pain, it seems he's trying to help Na-in escape his fate but also seems to be hots for him?
The past indicates Na-in had a lover and Amon killed him? and what's with burning vilages and Na-in becoming sacrifice?
Coming to Amon, what in the world is his deal? He asks Na-in to stay with him but does shit that drives Na-in to edge? He's sweet at one moment and turns into monster and claiming human thoughts elude him?? Plus he's actively trying to make Na-in not remember something
I dont care for their situationship and how they become a couple or throuple or any of that crap. It's a bit anxiety inducing, Na-in slightly reminds me of Sunwon from "How to be a chosen one" and his struggle to navigate a complex religious and royal world.
I'd like some sort of lore explanation as to what's going on. But I can say this something. Na-in seems to be trapped in a beautiful nightmare crafted by Amon and Gwen seems to be key for Na-in to gain his agency beyond Amon
