When a Red Flag acts like a Red Flag

BaskingintheSun November 1, 2026 7:09 am

Why are we all surprised?
Obviously the fuvkboi psycho with deepseated mental issues was not going to communicate or handle things in a healthy manner. What's not clicking?

I'm saying this because some people seem unaware
The purpose of reading this is meant to be some form of enjoyment. It's an exercise in emotions. You don't have to push yourself to read this just because it's popular or because you have read the 50 or so chapters so far. You get no reward for reading something that brings you no joy. That being said, reading and engaging with things outside of your comfort zone to a *limited* extent is an opportunity for growth. However, if that engagement is solely just complaining about it, you aren't doing anyone any favours.

This tuned into a lecture for no reason, but I hope it is useful to someone.

Some of you have never grown up with in-built guilt about dropping the boring/bad book and it shows. There are people out there who can't just dropwhat they are reading/watching without feeling anxious about it. I, just a year ago learned to dropthe stories that make me extremely uncomfortable and I still feel that guilt whenever I do that. And when you are like me or worse in this regard only things that remain are grinding through, complaining and hating on it ...and comment sections are usually for that.

why do u feel anxious about dropping a story like genuinely no one gives a shit about what you do. it does not affect anyone but yourself.

You not understanding something doesn't necessarily makes it automatically invalid or non-existent.

It, for me, started with reading classics when I was younger and either older people (parents, teachers sometimes even peers) would shame you if you found some "geniuses'" work boring and didn't finish it. I still get shamed in my home country when I say that I don't find reading classics as much fun and pleasurable experience as I do sci-fi and fantasy.

I understand where you’re coming, as my country is the same and I get how those things damage the younger generation, and I am glad you started dropping stories that make you feel uncomfortable - but OP’s comment was more so because people KNOW what this story is about, know it’s gonna have messed up yandere unhealthy characters, and they still complain that the story is what it said it would be. You shouldn’t assume the reasons for other people complaining are the same as your own. And honestly if someone is too anxious to dropa story with dark content that can potentially scar your brain especially with dub con stories this is something they should definitely work on so they avoid psychological consequences.

And about this, from psychological standpoint, enabling people who consume dark content that can have long term consequences on them is not good, because this is how people spiral into darker and darker and darker content and start seeking it out. Users on MangaGo have always told people like this to just stop reading! Because it’s very bad for you.
