I mean, even IRL male doctors tend to not understand the female body and MC experienced something akin to turning from male to female. *shrug* Some females doesn't even know about some disorders like PMDD and how it's treated. In any case, you can't expect a Physical therapist to know a lot about obstetrics.
Also, (I hate to admit this) some IRL females don't even know how pregnancy works. I remember reading a post about a pregnant woman distressed about being told she needs to lay off sex because "How am I supposed to feed the baby?!" Apparently, her boyfriend convinced her that the baby needs sperm to eat.
I know I'm rationalizing for my mental health but this bad writting from the author isn't too far from reality.
It's basic you can see he read and learnt about omega and alpha conditions in his classes just didn't apply it in his life . I don't know what you mean but my friend is pursuing to be a doctor and they at least learn about both bodies till their graduations till they choose specific field. Further and omega and alpha things uke should be aware about why his body releasing fluids he ignored that even though he should have taken it seriously at first take.

So a guy who manages a gambling den knows about the pregnancy supplements but someone in the medical field doesn't. Wow author, so smart.
