Haha, I've actually read a manga with that story line and, hmm... it was satisfying at first, of course, getting back at the other and all that but as the reader who knows they're going to end up together anyway yet both of them have hurt each other just for the sake of being fair, I feel really sad.

Human's are selfish, self-satisfying creatures. We have to fight our true nature in order to be decent people. Because this is the case, we often screw up pretty bad and do dumb things that hurt others and, in turn, hurt ourselves. This is why forgiveness is so important to us as well, whether it is giving it, getting it or withholding it. You're right, it is sad. The ideal would be to just forgive. You won't forget, that's impossible, a bell can't be "un-rung", but you can move forward and try to do better with the opportunity. Sadly, though, most humans are pretty stingy with forgiveness. Which, of course, circles back to us being selfish and self-satisfying. It's a vicious cycle that anyone can simply choose to break.

Have you read this already?

Somewhat the same as our topic but I think this manga's author showed more skill in the sense that satisfaction for the readers as they see the seme suffer for his misdeeds were properly delivered without tainting the uke's pure character.

Yes, just recently. The uke handled the whole situation in a very mature and dignified way. Which allowed the seme to self reflect on his own and, in doing so, realized his own faults without having to be told directly. It was one of the most mature ways I've ever seen such situations handled in a manga. I liked it very much.

I totally agree with you. Hina wa was way better than Overdose but the latter was indeed a bit shorter than the former so maybe that was it, readers can't feel the seme's "struggle". Supporting characters did point out, though, that the seme was slowly falling apart although he himself may not have noticed.
I think it would have been just a teeny better if Kaoru started dating another guy when Aragaki found him the second time. That would have really shaken Aragaki up. Nothing opens a selfish seme's eyes like seeing who he thinks is his (when he wouldn't even commit), with someone else.
