Homosexuality and Religion

n0tm3w September 3, 2019 5:21 am

I have a question.

If someone who's a member of LGBTQ+ doesn't have any religion or if their religion (or cult) doesn't say anything about homosexuality or that homosexuality is a sin or something, are they still considered as a sinner or does committing an abomination act(under the law of/given/set by their god) or something against their god/s are considered wrong or bad? I mean, they don't have a religion.

Like in Hinduism, people in higher rank aren't or shouldn't touch people in lower rank because it will affect them or it will dirty them but people from other religion will not be affected if they touch (hindu) people from lower rank. (I'm not sure exactly what will happen because I've already forgot about it although I did study about it years ago. Too lazy to do research)

But if I did say something wrong or completely false, please correct me.

Well...It only really applies to the person who actually believes in the religion. Religion is a belief system, we can’t say for sure that if you commit a sin god will yeet you into hell. We can’t say that being LGBTQ+ affects them in any context at all because we’ve never seen anyone be cast in the pits of hell, and if they’re not religious it doesn’t even matter. It’s not like Christians believe that only Christians can sin, it’s the same with any other religion.

Sin is just a concept for believers in order for them to not go beyond the "boundaries" even if they're already doing it themselves in their day to day basis.

I never thought that a "sin" is a bad thing. We're humans. We do shity things sometimes. We're all assholes in our own ways.

Doing something that makes people judge you and exclude yourself from a group just because youre a bit different is just really selfish and disgusting.

But hey, Thats just how humans work. Plus Catholicism, Hinduism and etc are just another cult which somehow has more believers than the ones we see today.

religion itself regards non believers as sinners or ''lost souls'' that might be forgiven IF they repent.
I'm no expert in any religion really, as I'm an atheist, but living in a small town in Italy, catholicism is kinda forced on everyone since childhood. I've had my share, and I'm pretty sure that if you'd ask if not believing in god would 'excuse' you being gay, you'd get something like ''you think you're gay BECAUSE you don't believe and you're lost'' or some shit like that.
Religions don't seem to recognize personal beliefs, which is ironic since most believe in their own supposedly omnipotent being, yet it's a different one everytime. Meaning that if there were a distinct and absolute truth as they preach, all of them except one would be wrong.
I have one suggestion to anyone struggling to be accepted by their religious group: Don't. These are not rationals people to begin with, you either let them win or let them cry

I'm not religious so the concept of sin doesn't apply to me lmao its not sinful if I dont believe in that religion

If you say you are a non believer in Spain 8000 ladies from their 50's and up will emerge from every corner and cast a curse upon you (if you live in super pro fascism areas like myself). So yeah, you gay you nay. Thank god (hehe!) youth is SO MUCH DIFERENT from the older generations who are still stucked in the dictatorship.

It's not a wrong idea. It's my own experience, which is real. I didn't make up any of this. Younger people arethankfully more open minded. But older religious people are some of the most hateful people you'll see, they're the ones locking their own family members in conversion camps and shit. All for some rules that THEY enforce. This god of yours really doesn't show itself (duh? wonder why) and all you got are people, just like you and me, preaching about what this entity wants, and what's right. But that's not it. It's what THEY want, as an ignorant and enclosed group of people who has held the power for too long. And in doing so has oppressed anyone who goes against it.
Do I hate religion? Maybe. I hate what it does to people, I hate the entitlement it gives to those who believe (I live in the state where the goddamn pope is, spending absurd amounts of money just by existing) I hate how it really holds back change. Italy was one of the last states to legalize gay marriage solely because of how catholic it is. And you're right, it's the people. But can you really differentiate? Religion goes hand in hand with its istitution, as long as there's men of faith yelling about ''sinners'' who just want to live like everyone else, religion will be harmful. I don't hate you, or anyone like you who believes and isn't a dick. But THOSE are the people you follow.

Did you know that the only reason why Divorce and Same-sex marriage is illegal in oir country?

    Because of religion.

They stick religion too much on their asses that they think this would solve world hunger.
Like ffs, there's been religious wars already just because of overinvested believers.
