What I don’t get is why the red-head is still giving 2nd ML vibes when he should be at the centre of her revenge for having done most of the damage. Forget her sister, she didn’t have mind-control powers, that man had her eating out of the palm of his hand all the while abusing her of his own will. He’s still a terrible person in this life too, especially to women. Is the price of that revenge too high? Aiding Alonzo in becoming king might circumvent the terrible price but it feels more like a form of atonement for her past deeds than revenge. We have him spinning her around on the dance for acting like a jealous lover, almost a ML competitor. Yes, he turned away her sister but so what? He hasn’t done enough to show he even deserves her mercy. To be clear, it’s not the fact that she hasn’t gotten revenge yet that bugs me, I’m more bothered by the way he’s being treated. The story set him up as this disgusting asshole, why are we backtracking? I stayed for the revenge, now that the sister is sort of irrelevant, are we going to get it? (I’m just venting but spoilers are welcome!!)

I THINK it’s next chapter that we get the whole arranged marriage misunderstanding cleared up

My theory for the ending:
.
.
.
.
.
First of all Yona has the dragon sword at the beginning of 257 and in chapter 1 and I believe she must be the one to wield it. I think the story ends with the soul of the red dragon, Yona, sending all of the dragons back to the heavens, ushering in a “new dawn”. As Soowon said, Kouka no longer needs the dragons, and dragons aren’t meant to be bound like this. Humans cannot contain the sheer power of the dragons for long. Zeno’s particular power affects his constitution, meaning his body can withstand living with the soul of a dragon, but he’s cursed with the eternal life of a dragon because of it. Also, King Hiryuu’s human body could not handle the powers of a dragon, meaning he was fated to die young, like the others. Yona doesn’t share this blood, she houses his soul. Soowon, however, does possess the blood of the red dragon and likewise has the power of exceptional leadership skills (like Yona). But, because of that blood, he too is fated to die young—it’s the power of the dragon passed on by blood, not migration between vessels after death. This is just my theory but it would explain why Yona and Soowon are pitted together as opposing forces that are also similar. It may also explain their relationship as two parts of a whole. This ending is also something that can happen reasonably soon because none of this is truly new info and they’re all headed to the same place. I’ve been reading this since ch 1 came out and I’d be satisfied. Anyway, I really hope this ends with everyone safe!

as much as i want to cry into a pillow thinking about this, even though the happy hungry bunch won’t be together anymore, their souls will all be happy where they truly belong. we all know that Yona will become queen of Kouka, but the losses of so many loved ones along the way make it all seem too painful to bear. i want the dragons to be with Yona forever, as much as i want Soowon to be with Hak and her forever, but it just doesn’t seem to be worth it considering the pain they’re all dealing with. ╥﹏╥

They suit each other so well, I truly hope she comes to truly embrace a lifestyle she’s so obviously interested in and enjoys, despite the hardships. Both of them were resentful and reluctant at the start, but his eagerness in sharing information combined with her endless curiosity really makes them work as team (and hopefully as a real couple). I also love that this is a healing experience for ML too.

also there is no arranged marriage, nor will there ever be. she only heard half the conversation and misunderstood. her father was mad about the proposal because he wants it to be her choice. it’s a feel-good and deeply unserious series. they play dodgeball soon.

I’m jumping ship. Novel spoiler forum says that this is full of inc*st, infidelity, and general unhappiness. Everything I hear about the dimension-shifting, transmigration, alternate timelines, and time-travel is confusing. Alex (her “father”) is the closest thing we get to a ML and is even worse of a person than he seems now. The other suitors include her two unrelated half-brothers, both of whom get really obsessive, her ex-husband, and a half-brother whom she is biologically related to. Even if she doesn’t commit to relationships, she does sleep with all of them. I have no idea if the artist will change things

    SLEEP WITH THEM WHAT

Oh it is all levels of fucked up. She sleeps with them and a half-brother she’s related to by blood. And the father is essentially ML.

It wasn’t the best plan by any means, but she wasn’t going to realize the extent to which she’s fallen under his control until she saw and felt it for herself. I do hope this change in mindset will make her relationship with ML feel a lot more balanced(?).

I don’t actually mind the flashback all that much, because it’s still an interesting story on it’s own, but it’s incredibly bloated with too much detail to be inserted within a larger so unceremoniously. It’s more like a full prequel at this point. It only needed to show the nature and extent of both dragons’ relationships with Brian, their relationship and conflict with each other, Brian’s own thoughts and feelings on all if it (ie. his character). Something it’s only just begun doing. This is all Ian would need to make his own decisions in the present and remove a lot of the confusion and suspicion he feels. Not that we know when or if he’ll learn any of this because the jump to the past happened so randomly. I can’t help but wonder if knowing all of this will make the present narrative far more frustrating. But who knows?

so mc is the dawn alchemist and the heavily poisoned ml is the trap??

dietsoba April 11, 2024 11:03 pm

love that we got the “ew gross i hate that kind of thing” out of the way. ML is not a brother.
