I think that’s just an error as in the novel he didn’t knot, the artist followed accurately what was written in the novel so yah he didn’t knot. Besides, even if he did, you would see him mentioned it in his bubble thoughts (like the way he did in his rut in the beginning of ss2)

like miscommunication is such an overused trope and its annoying, whatever we all agree on that but its a real ass thing that happens!! and when authors actually GIVE a reason for the miscommunication (take the bbgirl in my pfp for example, hes so insecure bc ash is his first real relationship + literally 0 social skills) it makes sense and is more realistic than other weirdass shit authors pull. ESPECIALLY WHEN THESE CHARACTERS ARE FUCKING TEENAGERS. WHOLE TEENAGERS IN HIGHSCHOOL. do yall not remember how shitty that time was????

okay so its explicitly stated that ash has his rut annually in the novel, next chapter i believe he says once or twice a year. for reference, its mentioned that ruts typically occur once every month to 3 months (month to 3 months might be incorrect but i remember it being mentioned that its pretty normal for alphas to have ruts once a month sometimes a little longer). so hypothetically ash has ruts around 12x (6x if twice a year) more intense than whats average.
and im not saying anything more than this in relation to his previous ruts: its more than safe to say that ash also had a lot of... pent up energy in a way
i just wanted to mention this for people concerned about how he was acting. if you read between the lines enough this is something that can be thought of without this information (i came to this conclusion at chapter 95 before even finding a complete trans of the novel). also by all my interpretations i believe lyle doesnt consider any of it as non-con. poor guy just needed a second to catch his breath and ash wasnt thinking enough to realise until he passed out
