honestly, when i started reading the manhwa i thought it was just going to be another toxic bl slop story, which like ok I'll admit to enjoying, but the novel sure did change my perspective on lots of things, including Wan's dad.
Wan is really unfortunate to have such a weak minded dad, but when the novel described that the dad got roped into gambling bc he wanted to earn money for his son, it made me p sad.... things aren't all black and white as they make it look like in the manhwa... Wan's dad wants the best for his son, but he's not good at being a dad....
I'm still early-ish (chapter 23) but having the characters thoughts more well fleshed in the novel really gives you a more indepth perspective of everything Wan goes through...

The most I can say abt this story is that it rlly pushes Park Wan over the edge. If you can’t stomach watching/reading abt Park Wan having to go through major hardships from being shunned, mistreated and having his mental health decline severely, this isn’t the story for you.
I personally like reading toxic stuff like this bc it hurts my heart and I love angst. But it’s definitely not a story for everyone, Park Wan is mostly treated as some doll by the ML. Ofc their relationship gets “better” in its own way but at the cost of Park Wan. Take that as you will
