So I don’t know what to do for my future career, I’m about to finish hs and I have absolutely no idea what to do with my life. I know I want to have a stable job that allows me to have time for myself but I don’t know what career paths can give me that. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
idk man. if you like science, then go for stem and allied. if not then go for being a pilot or business management or publishing/editing. or even go for stuff like being a professional chef if thats your forte. whatever it is you choose be sure you'll be ok doing it for a long time. you can switch up fields of work these days ofc. but always a good thing to have a reliable skillset that you can make an income from.
I had the same issue and this is what I did:
1. Figure out what I did NOT want to do
2. Ask myself what I would enjoy studying
3. In the fields selected at step 2, what are the career paths?
4. Is there a strain on those jobs? Too many / not enough applicants? (that is, will I find work if I study this?)
5. Visit the school and ask the teachers about the career success of alumni, contact professionals of the careers you're interested in and ask them about their work
Stability and having time for yourself are stuff you gain after working the same job for a while. You need to create your routine first (yes even in repetitive factory jobs, because of shifts and the mental fatigue at the end of the day)
Now if you want jobs that pay and are always in demand... Electrician, plumber, locksmith. The kind of people that you call when you're stuck (in the dark, in deep shit, or outside). Mechanics (not for cars or trucks, dream bigger) too, and this is a pretty stable job.
Personal advice is stay away from the medical field if you want more time for yourself lol
Im thinking go for an office job that doesn't demand overtime or weekend shifts or one you can do remotely at some point with flexible hours as you progress
With the way things are going now, maybe consider a career in cybersecurity or data analytics etc
It's okay if your passion lies elsewhere and not in your career and just use it to support your passions:)

Hey this is totally unrelated but lately my family has been struggling financially for a long time since the moment I could speak. I’ve never been privileged or had things I wanted and I know I sound selfish for saying this but I hate how I’m living right now. My parents are scared that there going to kick us out are house, and I’m also angry at myself for not trying harder. I work part time while going to school I sleep a max of 4 hours everyday. I feel so exhausted and our financial situation is putting my family and I in a hardship. Mentally we’re all struggling with our own battles, my mom got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and my dad lost his job, and I have two younger siblings who they need to feed. It’s just gotten to the point I’m that desperate, I’ve sold half my clothes and tried finding way to earn money doing side gigs. But it’s not enough. :( what do I do?, should I join the army or what can I do to help my family. Sorry for ranting about my life situation I know other people are struggling right now but I have no one to talk to about anything. I’m a loner and reading makes me feel better that I get to escape from my harsh reality;(.
Honey tbh theres nothing we could say that will make your situation gets better, but, be proud of yourself for not giving up and being able to be there for your family even when your are not okay.
My family suffers with money too, and I am in a shitty job for about 6 years now, i gain so little but work so hard. Reading helps me too, to forget a little about my problems.

First, you need to make real friends that you can talk to about this - it’s hard making friends but you need a support system that isn’t on this website. Second, if you’re going to college, meet with an advisor who can guide you on the steps to take to improve your situation - or speak to a social worker (if you’re in the us). Third, I know this is such a overdone peace of advice, but you really need to have a positive change of mindset. Yes yes I know you may feel like nothing can be done, but less than nothing will be done if you have a negative mindset that’s always keeping you down. Fourth, another cliche stoic men always say, don’t stress- have faith that you will find a way out of your situation no matter how shitty.

my family is also going through financial hardships and I've had the privilege of being able to help them in those hardships because of my scholarships. if u plan/want to go to college and are in the US, there might be state programs for tuition coverage u can look into, as well as outisde sources aside from federal government aid.
this might also sound a bit out of touch, but something i found helped me when I was literally counting pennies was tiny tiny tiny financial goals. like save $2 for a treat one day or save it and never touch it again and just keep accumulating it. i saw it as a small step towards not grasping at straws and it kind of proved to me in a way that I could be doing worse LOL
